Musings bent out of shape

Oct. 11th, 2006 10:23 pm Nice lil quote

The unapparent connection is more powerful that the apparent one.

---Heraclitus 500 B.C

Another interesting quote: It is better to hide ignorance, but it is hard to do this when we relax over wine. :)

He has an interesting philosphy. He talks of people sleep walking through life, or attempting to learn rather than experience. He talks of experience being another sense in addition to eyes, ears etc. Is an interesting take. hmmm...

Oct. 5th, 2006 11:12 pm After a long long time

Been a while since my last post. Been busy with my thesis and research. Was at a state when I was uncertain whether I would finish at all. Something did work. Had some good fortune as well. And it went well. Was a pleasant day when my prof looked at some graphs that were generated and exclaimed "You are done!". Subsequently, there was a lot of running around for the actual submission of my thesis. Finally, did the walk that graduates do in the costumes that signify the occasion, for the snaps that fill up dusty old albums(or in my case, never looked at directories) to mark the end of my life at Santa Cruz. Did a bit of travelling, some photography and then a nice drive along the west coast. Began a new phase of life, met up with old friends, went back to the work routine and have been experiencing a a nice little difference from school. Do miss Santa Cruz a bit, miss the beaches and the cliff, and the ocean that I had gotten used to. But, lots of things that I don't miss as well. Back to my old routine of watching movies, working, reading. Not been listening to too much of new music. Not enough time! Attempting to learn some new skills, some new games. Enjoying playing in a league. Not yet good at it, but, hell, have a good time, and that is what counts. Weekends are back to times that I look forward to. Well, weekdays aren't too bad as well. Been nice meeting old friends, and making some new ones as well. Been nice eating some good food(my pet peeve during grad life).

Folks, life has been going well

Apr. 23rd, 2006 02:33 am An ice cream sandwich

Had been to San Francisco today. Met a friend, and after a nice, heavy dinner, we decided to go to this place named CitizenCake for dessert. I had heard about it as a place which was famous for making ice-cream sandwiches. Well, instead of the slices of bread in the sandwich, there were two freshly baked cookies(they were still warm) and then, as the filling between the cookies, was ice-cream. We were asked for our choice of both the cookie and ice cream. I have never had this combination, and was this WOW. I tried a walnut flavor ice-cream for my filling, and my friend tried lavender flavored ice cream. Both of us were astounded with the taste. Was it amazing. Highly recommend this. And I am a bit surprised that a lot more places which bake fresh cookies don't attempt this combination.
Also, as an aside, this place is a full fledged bistro, seemed to have a nice ambiance and a lively bar as well. For next time, dinner will be at this place.

Apr. 18th, 2006 10:30 pm Some lyrics that really caught my eye

there there, baby
it's just textbook stuff
it's in the abc of growing up
now now, darling
don't lose your head
cause none of us were angels
and you know I love you, yeah
